We offer several Motherboard/RAM/CPU combo options. This quote includes the Asus P4PE board with 512 Meg DDR 333 MHz RAM as we feel it offers most user the best bang for the buck, but we include the current upgrade options below and their costs so you can make your own choices. The latest motherboards offer support for Dual Channel 400 MHz DDR RAM PC3200 and 800 MHz FSBus options. All these boards use Intel CPUs and chipsets. We mainly sell Asus brand boards because we find they typically get the best reviews and most sited for top reliability and stability. All the following motherboards are top quality and perform very well. We do not feel any but the most advanced user could tell a noticeably speed difference between any of the following Motherboard/RAM/CPU options when running the most common mainstream applications If you do run high-end CAD, 3D action games or applications that keep you waiting on the CPU/memory sub-system than by all means seriously consider upgrading to an 800 Mhz FSB CPU, 400 MHz dual channel RAM and compatible motherboard. You can reasonably upgrade to such for as little as $100

Sidebar note - The main reason we do not recommend (this type/level of) RAID is because it is very hard to fully backup the full software setup and as it means using more drives it is considerably less reliable. Add $20

Value (cut-down) version of P4P800 - The Asus P4P800-VM using Asus P4P800-VM motherboard has only 3 PCI slots and 100 MB LAN. Adds $30 to our base P4PE motherboard system price plus it includes integrated graphics via Intel's latest Extreme graphics II chipset and thus if you do not require us adding the video card quoted below we can deduct $40. Still you need to upgrade to the faster 400Mhz RAM $40 and 800 MHz FSBus CPU costing $30. So overall this option costs you an additional $60 from our base system and gives you faster CPU, faster RAM but slower video and less PCI expansion slots. So kind of an odd ball choice. Add $60

Motherboard Option #3: Asus P4C800 Latest High-End (and most expensive) mother- board based on Intel's latest greatest 875P chipset: Add $110 to this quote - Plus the cost of 400 MHz dual channel RAM (512 Meg) $40 and an 800 MHz FSBus 2.4GHz CPU $30 for a total upgrade costs of $180) - This board supports all Intel Socket 478 Pentium 4 or Celeron CPU’s up to 3.2 GHz, Specifications - Include the latest innovations such as; 800 Mhz FSBus, Dual Channel 400 MHz DDR RAM slots, AGP 8X video slot, Serial ATA (Hard Disk interface) ports, RAID controller, 2 IEEE1394/firewire ports, 8 of the much faster USB version 2.0 ports, Gigabit LAN port, PAT (Intel's memory Performance Acceleration Technology), AMI BIOS, 5 PCI Expansion Slots. Enhanced Version of P4C800 (The only difference is that it uses Intel's Gigabit LAN 875PE chipset instead on 3Com's LAN and so if you actually use Gigabit LAN it should be slightly faster on the network) Add another $15 so Add $195

The only difference between the P4C800 deluxe and the above P4P800 deluxe board is that the P4C800 has Intel's PAT (a memory Performance Acceleration Technology) included; however that can be enabled in BIOS on the P4P800. So the only real difference is that this board can take ECC (error correcting memory). So few would want to pay the extra $60 it costs over the P4P800.

Although we prefer Asus brand motherboards (for their added features) with Intel CPUs and chipsets so may prefer to actually get an Intel motherboard as well so two of Intel's latest offerings include;

Many customers at our recommendation get 2 hard disks, using the second (hopefully larger disk) for fast rotational backups of their full software setup and for rotational fast data backups (both via routines we provide) and to store large data files (music and pictures) they prefer not to have clutter their main drive. A second hard disk 120 Gig 7200 RPM costs an additional $120. If you cannot get a 2nd hard disk or want off-site backups of at least your data we recommend a CD-RW drive. If your computers are on a network we can setup secondary backup routines to backup data to other hard disks on your network. We include an extra cooling fan with the purchase of a 7200 RPM drive.

The GeForce FX-5600 also with 128 Meg RAM, AGP 8X plus DVI jack costs an extra $120. We can upgrade out base card to the GeForce FX-5200 with 128 Meg DR RAM and AGP 8X for as little as $40, but this is a minimal upgrade and not really what one may want for high-end graphic applications. Some video cards we offer include ATI's Radeon line and cards with TV Tuner, etc. You can sepnd as much as an additional $370 if you want to go all out. We do not like to sell LCD monitors, because we feel users satisfaction with such items to be very subjective and we feel such items should be seen and inspected by the buyer before the purchase. F.Y.I. - LCD monitors are usually made to run and look best at only one specific resolution which is typically 1024x768 on 15" models and 1280x1024 on larger models. This high resolution generally means icons and text is smaller than many people are used to. Besides costing about three times as much as a CRT monitor they have the following draw backs; reduced reliability, slower, reduce viewing angle, more limited resolution setting options, reduced image quality (less brightness and less contrast). Their advantages include; They look cool, they save energy and space, putout less heat. The main point to verify when buying any monitor for working with data is are you going to be comfortable working with text over a long period. Please Note: The above components and thus the price is based upon our recommended top-quality components. However these days it seems few if any of our competitors offer such quality or cutting edge components, nor do they do your full setup. We too can cut costs if you desire. By using components similar to their offerings and reducing some of the excess services we include we can cut up to $450 off the above quote. The components that we would have to substitute include; A less expandable motherboard (saves $40) which integrates the video card (saving another $60) on the board and has less expansion slots. A smaller medium tower case with less wattage and less cooling saves $30. Low end speakers can save $35, Windows Home edition saves $30 which comes to a $195 discount. If you want only a one year on-site warranty as some of their low cost systems include deduct another $70 for a total discount of $265. If you do not need us to setup all your software and transfer data from another computer or keep a backup of your software setup deduct another $100, plus we shave off another $85 to bring you to our maximum discount of $450. Add-ons and changes to above systems and their costs. Note: These bundled prices are only good at time you place your order. With a system purchase we include the following upgrades at our costs so if you want to upgrade one of the above quotes it will cost you the least to do it at the time we are quoting you your new computer.

General Upgrade Step Suggestions: If you are willing to spend more to bump this system up the items we would recommend (in the order we recommend) upgrading or adding include; A word processor like a Microsoft Word, unless you already have that software. A backup device of some type; CD-RW (maybe already included in quote) and/or 2nd Hard Disk for Fast Full Backups.  If you plan to collect a lot of music files or videos then you may want to consider a larger hard disk. If your location has power problems than we recommend a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) to protect your computer and software setup from power outages.  If you plan to use the computer to play a lot of music then one of the higher end speakers. If youngsters will be using the computer we recommend a full backup device and perhaps the Microsoft Reference Suite. If playing a lot of 3D action games we recommend that you consider one of the higher end nVidia chipset video cards.  If you plan to capture motion videos in and out to a DV Camera we recommend a firewire card which is included on some system.  If you will be using the Internet a lot we recommend fast Internet access through Bellsouth or Cox Cable.

We will at no additional charge upon delivery of your computer setup most any existing devices you own and want connected; unless you have an unusual amount of items, or unusually complex item(s). You do not need to buy your Printer, Scanner, Monitor, Camera, Palm Pilot or other peripheral device from us to have us help set it up. Please notify us at the time of purchase (before delivery) of what other devices (with model numbers), software and data you will want configured so we have a chance to get the latest drivers in advance, and verify that the computer we are selling you can handle them. Configuring a new network or Internet sharing is charged additionally.

DCI will provide you with a printer, scanner, digital camera device, etc if requested, but there is no value we add to such items, nor can we service them is the have a problem as we do not have parts for them. We will connect such devices if you purchase them elsewhere and have them available when we deliver your system. If we do provide any such devices we do not provide warranty on them as the warranty is provided by their specific manufacturers.

Printer, Scanner, Digital Camera models mentioned below may need updating and are provided as a guideline so please call if interested.

Printers: Mostly we push HP Laser or Desk Jet Printers, Epson if you prefer. Printers vary considerably in price and features and you need to decide if color is important or if a faster, more reliable, less costly consumables, B&W only laser printer is more suitable or both. Other considerations include duty cycle volume, paper/media size and thickness requirements, cost of consumables/ink and paper. Ability to share/network, Media Trays and Warranty. Some people might prefer a combo printer, fax, copier, scanner type device. An HP DeskJet printer with cable can be purchased for as little as $130. We recommend you get one with a USB interface and also get the cable length you will need. We personally find Ink Jets more costly over time because of the price of their consumables (Ink Cartridges) and we find them comparably slow and less reliable than the B&W only laser printers. If you plan to use share the printer in a network we recommend a printer designed for sharing so please give us a call. You can get current info on various printers at www.hp.com. Current printer reviews can be found via a search at zDNet.  A low-end color printer the Cannon BJC 210 2/5PPM 720x360 PPI & USB cable can be had for as little as $89.

Scanners: We push Epson and HP brand scanners. We recommend you get one that has USB support. Please call if you want our assistance in obtaining a scanner.  A decent flat bed scanner can be had for about $100.

Cameras:

Logitech Quick Cams: For sending images over the Web, via Email, and simple Video and Image capturing. These are not real quality digital cameras. They typically require a USB port and some include a microphone. Some can be used away form the computer for taking pictures. The prices we quote included shipping and labor to setup, test and go over it with you if purchased with a new system. Prices start at $69 and go up to $190 for their QuickCam Traveler.

Motion Video Capture/Edit:

If you have or plan to get a movie camera that has a firewire IEEE 1394 interface and plan to load movies on the computer for editing then you should consider adding a Firewire port to this computer which comes bundled with ULead's Video Studio SE Software for $129. If you plan to do motion video capturing please let us know so we can recommend a video card that has Video-In and Video-Out jacks like one of the ATI All-In-Wonder or Guillemot Cougar Video Edition cards which Add $80. Also you should have a CD-RW Drive for off loading or backing up your video files. The Video Capture & Editing software can be upgrade to Ulead’s Video Studio 4.0 full version from the Standard Edition for $120 or you may want to consider the highest rated Adobe Premiere 6 software for $599

Monitors:

We sell quality monitor brands; like Samsung, Viewsonic, Hitachi and Optiquest. We bundle them with a system as a service and at our cost plus shipping. We provide 2 Years of onsite warranty on the monitors we supply; and will provide you with a loaner should it need servicing during those 2 years. However you typically have a 3rd year of warranty provided through the manufacturer. We do not sell Flat Screen LCD type displays as we cannot provide loaners on them. We will connect one you provide to our system, but you should notify us during the quote phase so we can quote you a video card with DVI jacks to best support LCD Displays. Also note you can not run such monitors clearly at a resolution less then 1024x768 pixels and so may not run all your applications particularly children educational titles.

Furniture: If you need a good spacious work desk for your computer we have inspected computer desks at Office Depot on Veterans and can recommend a good one (Bush #HM22418 Office Depot Item# 172631) which we have used and costs about $220 with tax. We recommend you go by and see it (or visit www.officedepot.com) and if you want one have it delivered and assembled for approximately an additional $80 as assembly can take 4 hours.

Our Fast Service Warranty turn-around on repairs to hardware failures is typically done within 1 day and includes the basic mission critical components of the computer (CPU, RAM, monitor, video card, motherboard, hard disks, network card, modem, CD drives, power supply, case, keyboard, floppy, mouse) for 2 years. Proprietary peripherals like; a monitor we will supply a loaner while repairs are made. External 3rd party peripherals like; Scanners, Cameras, Printers are not covered under our warranty, but thru the manufacturer, however we will provide free phone support on such devices if connected to a DCI computer. Software malfunctions that develop after initial delivery and inspection are not covered under warranty. It is your responsibility to protect your software setup. We can recommend and supply backup devices (like a 2nd hard disk), routines and training to help you protect your software setup. As we setup all your software, Internet and peripherals you need to understand the time required to redo your complete software setup from scratch (if need be) can be much more costly than the cost of a backup device.

DCI guarantees that all our computers are assembled from industry standard size components. There is plenty of room for future expansion and there are many competitive suppliers for replacement or upgrade components so you are less likely to outgrow a DCI computer. DCI’s warranty repairs average under 8 working hours. DCI is a member of the Better Business Bureau and received the Better Business Bureau's Award of Excellence for consumer relations. DCI has been in continuous operation since 1984 and in that time we have never had a client file a complaint against us.

All orders are taken by phone; as we do your full setup as we feel some discussion is needed to verify you get the computer that will handle your particular needs and desires. Points we feel need to be addressed include; What version of Windows do you desire, DVD, what type of video card will you require, what type of monitor you pan to use now and later, what level of backup protection you require, how many people will be using the computer and their ages, will you be running any special critical applications so we can verify compatibility and performance of the application with the computer we are quoting, what peripherals and data you plan on using or moving, whether you will be using a network, who your Internet provider is or will be and do you require shared internet access.

Some potential customers just want as they put it - “A computer for simple word processing, Internet access and email. If this is all you require then our recommended system is probably over kill and we can quote you a lower cost, but still quality system with quality support, that can be upgraded to the higher functionality of the recommended system should you discover you need more space, speed or options. Still we will not cut corners.  In our opinion it is not justified to cut $100 of a system price by using low-end close out, or off brand CPUs, cases, video, sound, etc.

Terms: Payment due when computer is delivered. All computers are sold locally so unfortunately we are required to add tax to all hardware sales. First time buyers and extra costly system purchasers will be required to put down a deposit of 50% when ordering a computer. Your computer will be ready within 7 or fewer working days from the date we get your order confirmation.  If you opt for some higher end options we may require a few extra days to get them in and tested.

Advice: If you plan to get a computer to run current software (such as Windows XP) we highly recommend as a minimum the computer should include a 1.8 GHz Pentium 4 class CPU, 40 Gig Hard Disk, 17" Monitor. Some open drive bays and expansion slots, 256 Megs of RAM. Also we recommend some backup device. Whatever you are buying a computer to run our highest recommendation is to get a computer that is assembled using all Industry Standard Components (NOT a Proprietary One Source Design). And we highly recommend you purchase from a local source that is committed to providing quality hardware, an optimized software setup and fast support.

DCI Price Note: Some people are shocked at the price we quote. We do not charge more because we are cocky, we charge more because it simply costs more to assemble quality non-proprietary computers; as each part is purchased separately and as we use only highly acclaimed components. Plus we do the whole job the hardware and your software setup. Include basic training, backup solutions and fast on-site service. It bewilders us that so many are willing to spend $30,000 plus for a decent car, but are not willing to spend a reasonable amount on a complete computer package that they will be depending upon to run their business.  When comparing similar systems our price is comparable as demonstrated here.  If you decide to purchase elsewhere we ask that you compare apples to apples and whatever you decide to purchase we wish to thank you for having given us the opportunity to submit a quote.
