IASP is delighted to announce the winners of the poster and lightning poster sessions at the 11th Asia Pacific Conference in Bangkok.
The World Health Assembly (WHA), the biggest global health event of the year, was held from 27th May to 1st June 2024.
It’s the last day of the conference and what an incredible privilege to be a part of a community leading suicide prevention efforts from all over the world.
Existing connections are deepening and you can see the different networks beginning to form. For me, it’s rather nice stepping out of the lift and seeing familiar faces with whom I can engage and chat with.
Partnerships for Life is a flagship initiative established by the International Association for Suicide Prevention that aims to expedite efforts globally to reduce the incidence of suicide and suicidal behaviour.
The ‘Reach In, Reach Out’ podcast series aims to encourage understanding around the complexities of suicide, reduce stigma surrounding the topic and spark meaningful conversations.
IASP’s COVID-19 Resource Centre aims to provide information for those seeking resources related to the pandemic and suicidal behaviour, suicidal ideation and self-harm.

I wanted to see the local activities with my own eyes, so I visited Torakarn-san at the office of the Samaritans in Thailand, which offers a suicide prevention hotline. I had a very meaningful conversation and am deeply grateful. Now, I am heading to the airport to return home.
