The Central Alabama Redevelopment Alliance (CARA) recently announced the launch of the Jefferson County Micro Business Accelerator, an innovative initiative designed to propel small businesses toward growth and long-term success.
DRY AIR: A nice push of dry air and lower dew points is over the northern half of Alabama this afternoon. Even in South Alabama showers are almost impossible to find at mid-afternoon; temperatures are mostly in the 90s.
On the forecast track, the center of Beryl will move across the southeastern and central Caribbean Sea tonight through Wednesday.
Their sustained winds are 92 mph gusting to 121 mph.
The island of Carriacou was in the 18 mile wide eye for several minutes. It just went through the brunt of the eastern eyewall where winds were probably sustained at 130-135 mph with gusts to 160 mph.
Hurricane Beryl satellite imagery and Barbados radar data indicate that the eye of Beryl has made landfall on Carriacou Island at 1110 AM AST. Data from an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate that Beryl’s maximum sustained winds have increased to 150 mph.
AF reconnaissance found a lower central pressure on this last pass dropping from 960 to 956 mb. And they observed a flight level wind of 132 knots…or 137 mph adjusted for altitude. The SFMR reported a surface wind of 149 knots…171 mph.

HOT SUMMER DAYS: Drier air will creep into the northern 2/3 of Alabama today, and most of the afternoon showers and storms will be confined to the southeast counties of the state.
Beryl is a remarkable storm and it will crash through the Windward Islands tomorrow morning.
The NOAA plane in Beryl measured a central pressure of 955.0 millibars at 5:22 p.m. CDT. The SFMR instrument estimated surface winds at 130 mph.
Hurricane Beryl is historic. It is only the second hurricane to form east of the Windward Islands.
Drier weather will arrive tomorrow. But scattered showers and storms are pushing southeastward across North and Central Alabama.
